Document Description
Cal-Ore Telephone is proposing to install fiber optic cable through existing conduit at three different locations/segments within the California Department of Transportation’s (Caltrans) right-of-way along State Route (SR) 97 in Siskiyou County near the community of Mcdoel and the City of Dorris. The three locations include (1) PM 34.365 to PM 36.158, (2) PM 38.517 to PM 40.155, and (3) PM 52.384 to PM 53.831. Handholes would also be installed underground at seven locations.
Installation of the fiber optic cable would require trenching and directional drilling to a maximum depth of 48 inches. Installation of seven (7) 30x48x36-inch handholes would require excavation. Caltrans will issue an encroachment permit (0225-6BB-0200) to allow the proposed improvements to occur within the right-of-way of SR 97.

The project would have no significant effect on the environment.
