Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes installing High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) at six (6) locations in Amador, Merced, San Joaquin, and Tuolumne Counties (See continuation sheet). Construction will occur on paved surfaces within Caltrans Right of Way. The scope of work requires prepping the existing roadway by milling the pavement to remove existing delineation to seal any cracks for longevity and overlaying with approved aggregate and epoxy. The purpose of this project is to increase the friction between the tires of motor vehicles and the roadway. The project is needed to reduce the number and severity of roadway collisions during wet pavement conditions.
