Document Description
The project area is located at 4614 Cavedale Road, Glen Ellen, which is a private property in the Sonoma Creek sub-watershed. The proposed project involves a 11.8-acre prescribed broadcast burn. Cavedale Road
will serve as the western and northern containment lines, and private driveways will act as the eastern and southern containment lines. No additional site preparation is required. The prescribed burn is scheduled for June 2025 but will occur no later than July 4th.
The majority of the project area is comprised of annual and perennial grassland, though mixed conifer-hardwood, hardwood, conifer, and riparian forests are also present. A pond is located in the southeast. This
11.8-acre area is designated as a very high fire hazard severity zone. Slopes are generally gentle and the aspect is variable. Goulding clay loam, 30 to 50% slopes, and rockland underlie the project area; Goulding clay loam has a rapid runoff and high hazard of erosion. A Class I watercourse, Hooker Creek, is present in the eastern half of the area.
Operational limitations for watercourses shall include a no operation buffer without clearance from a qualified Registered Professional Forester or qualified biologist determining non-presence of species listed under the Federal or State Endangered Species Act.
