Document Description
The State Water Board is funding the Project referred to internally as Carissa Plains Nitrate Compliance. The components of the Project to be funded by the State Water Resources Control Board include the replacement of the existing water system serving both the Carrisa Plains Elementary School (School) and two single-family residences on the School’s campus. The current infrastructure, an onsite groundwater well, a 2,500-gallon plastic storage tank, and a booster pump, will be replaced with a new water source well, a 25 ft by 25 ft fenced enclosure for the well, a 5,000-gallon bolted steel water storage tank, a booster pump, 1,400 ft of 4-inch polyvinyl chloride pipes, electrical conduit, and a backup generator. The existing well will be demolished and removed after the proposed well is constructed and in service. A nitrate-ion exchange system and water softening system may be installed if the new well continues to exceed the nitrate maximum contaminant level of ten milligrams per liter.
