Document Description
The City and County of San Francisco proposes installing fiber optic cables in existing conduit, attaching new fiber cables on existing utility poles, and installing fiber in new conduit in the Bayview, Chinatown and Tenderloin neighborhoods. The project includes the installation of 40 underground pull boxes in the sidewalk, and each pull box would require a trench ranging between 5 to 50 feet. The proposed pull boxes would be placed every 200 to 300 feet. The maximum depth of excavation would be 2 feet below existing ground surface. The project does not anticipate the installation of any new utility poles; new cables would attach to existing poles. The height of existing utility poles range between 35 feet and 50 feet above the surface, and proposed cables would have a height of between 24 feet and 27 feet. The project does not propose new cabinets, huts or other structures placed above the ground surface. The construction duration would be approximately 18 months.
