Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) has amended and augmented grant agreement #1729-RFFCP (RFFCP2022) Tribal Capacity Building Subgrant - Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk Indians with the American Indian Council of Mariposa County, Inc. (Grantee) to allow additional funds to be used for planning activities associated with completing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis for potential future forest health and fuels reduction activities on Frank Fischer tribal allotment land. The Grantee would engage with Bureau of Indian Affairs and consultants to complete the environmental compliance process. Activities include only the planning, resource surveys, environmental analysis, and coordination to develop CEQA and NEPA environmental documents for potential future forest health and fuels reduction projects. There will be no ground or resource disturbance as part of this planning amendment.

The activities under this amendment involve planning and completing the environmental compliance process and meeting with local and federal partners. The project is statutorily exempt under CEQA Guidelines, section 15262 exempting feasibility and planning studies as the activity involves planning studies for possible future actions which the Sierra Nevada Conservancy Board has not approved, adopted, or funded. Further, there is no legally binding effect on later activities.
