Document Description
The project will involve seismic retrofits to the existing bridge, as well as installation of fish passage flumes and construction of a wildlife crossing under the bridge. The bridge is cast-in-place and has concrete T-beam girders. The structure includes 13 spans and 2 expansion joints and is supported on 2 levees and 9 visible piers, with each pier consisting of 11 piles/columns anchored in a partial-height scour wall and buried foundation. The partial scour walls will be extended up to the bottom of the bridge deck at the visible piers. Both expansion joints will be modified by installing pipe seat extenders at each joint. Two concrete fish passage flumes will be installed under the bridge between Piers 8 and 9 and between Piers 10 and 11. A smooth-surface wildlife crossing will be installed along the southern side of the river channel between Piers 4 and 5. Temporary fencing will be installed to protect sensitive habitats within the flood control channel during construction.
