Document Description
With the proposed continuation of its VMP, LBNL would continue to address wildland fuel management and maintenance for the next ~20 years on its 202-acre campus in the east bay hills of Alameda County. This would include regular removal of grasses, leaf litter, invasive shrubs, and small, individual trees using hand tools or grazers; maintenance of ornamental plants and trees in the developed campus areas; occasional thinning or clearing of large trees or groups of trees; and implementation of post-removal restoration activities, which may include erosion control measures and replanting of treated areas with fire-resistant trees and understory. VMP project implementation is described and fully analyzed under the LBNL 2025 Long Range Development Plan Environmental Impact Report (LBNL EIR, SCH No. 2024050545), which was certified by the Regents of the University of California (UC) on September 17, 2025.
