Document Description
To perform five (5) exploratory borings and two (2) cone penetration tests. Of the five exploratory borings, three will be 175 feet deep in the river channel and two will be 110 feet from the top of the levees. All five borings will be explored using the Mud Rotary drill rig. The three borings in the river channel will be backfilled with bentonite. The two land borings and two cone penetration tests (all on the levees) will be backfilled with cement-bentonite grout placed using a tremie.

The project is exempt from CEQA under the Class 6, Information Collection categorical exemption (CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15306), because the activity consists of basic data collection, research, experimental management, and resource evaluation activities which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource. These may be strictly for information gathering purposes, or as part of a study leading to an action which a public agency has not yet approved, adopted, or funded. Further, none of the exceptions to the exemption in CEQA California Code of Regulations, Title 14, Section 15300.2 apply.
