On June 16, 2026, the City Council approved the Barstow International Gateway (BIG) project, including the BIG Specific Plan, Development Agreement, Tract Map and other associated land use approvals, for an Integrated rail and logistics facility (including a rail yard consisting of an intermodal facility, a "block swap" yard and ancillary rail area, a transload warehouse center, a private utility and ungraded area to be held under a conservation easement), annexation areas, and onsite and offsite improvements.
