Document Description
The United States Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco District will continue maintenance dredging of the federal navigation channels in San Francisco Bay to maintain their navigability for dredging years 2025 to 2034. The San Francisco Bay Regional Water Quality Control Board has issued a Clean Water Act Section 401 Water Quality Certification and Waste Discharge Requirements pursuant to the State of California’s Porter-Cologne Water Quality Control Act for USACE’s continued maintenance dredging operations in SF Bay. Dredging involves the excavation of accumulated sediment from the channel, as well as the transportation and placement of the sediment at a permitted location, consistent with permit conditions established by applicable regulatory agencies. Sediment must be tested for suitability for placement at any site.
