Document Description
The proposed Project is for the replacement and improvements of an existing elementary school water system in Riverdale, a disadvantaged community in Fresno County. The existing piping has corroded due to excessive chlorination (samples that were collected found six times the Maximum Contaminant Level for chlorine in the water), which has led to the lead from the distribution piping to dissolve into the water system. The system also lacks a secondary water supply and backup power source. Currently, approximately 175 students and staff are served by this system. The Project will replace approximately 1,310 linear feet (LF) of three-inch diameter PVC pipe below grade; approximately 15 LF of two-inch diameter galvanized steel water distribution pipe above grade; approximately 10 LF of three-inch galvanized steel water distribution pipe above grade; various appurtenances at the existing well site and valves within valve boxes; one existing 75-psi, 900-gallon hydropneumatic bladder tank, a backup generator, well site/chlorination equipment shade cover, and a secondary water supply well on school property.
