Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-SMO-57571-R3), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, the project Applicant, City of Belmont Public Works. The project will construct a 9-acre-foot below-ground stormwater storage facility under the Twin Pines Park parking lot upland of Belmont Creek. A 60-foot-wide high-flow diversion weir will be constructed along the creek bank parallel to the direction of flow, consisting of six 10-foot-wide tilting weir gates. Concrete wing walls approximately 36 feet long and 13.5 feet high, and 40 feet long and 12.5 feet high will be constructed on the upstream and downstream ends of the weir gates, respectively, to direct stream flows into the basin. The diversion weir height is designed to maintain up to 250 cubic feet per second (cfs) within Belmont Creek year-round. As flows exceed 250 cfs, water from the stream will enter the detention basin. Once flow conditions subside, the diverted water will be drained via gravity and pumping back into the creek through a 46-foot long, 18-inch diameter reinforced concrete pipe. The pipe outlet will be placed downstream of the detention basin weir and existing pedestrian bridge and will allow the detention basin to drain within 72 hours of filling. The downstream end of the outlet.
