                Document Description

The Project is limited to the stabilization of a portion of the stream bank, downstream of Aikawa Pond, which is experiencing erosion due to fire and flooding that damaged the upstream dam. The Project will remove and replace the existing rock chute that conveys outflow from the pond. The new rock chute will be approximately 1,152 square feet along 72 linear feet and be contained within the footprint of the historic dam. Dam fill will also be laid back on the west end of the dam crest to reduce the steepness of the dam face and create a more natural contour to better establish native vegetation, as the current dam face is too steep and only supports non-native
annual grasses and herbaceous plants. The Project will result in new permanent impacts to approximately 22 linear feet and 62 square feet of stream and riparian habitat, and temporary impacts to approximately 0.2 acres and 172 linear feet stream and riparian habitat. No trees will be removed and all disturbed areas with the potential for erosion will be stabilized with weed-free biowattles as needed and seeded with native seed.
