                Document Description

The proposed roundabout will have an inscribed diameter of 140’, and a single lane of traffic for all approaches. An approach towards Naples Ave (Approach ”B”) was added to allow future access to a potential commercial or light industrial development. The circulator roadway will be 20’ wide. The concrete apron will be 100’ in diameter with a center island 74’ in diameter. The apron will have a mountable curb to allow larger vehicles and semi-trucks and trailers to navigate through the roundabout. There will be an approximately 4’ wide outside truck apron on the south side to accommodate STAA vehicles to drive NB SR 33 to EB SR180.
Per the Caltrans Highway design manual, an 8’ wide shared-use path on the outside of the roundabout for bicyclist and pedestrian movement is proposed. Bicycle ramps will be placed at a 35-degree angle to the departure roadway to encourage bicyclists to enter the shared-use path at a lower speed. All other improvements, to include accessible curb ramps, curb, gutter, sidewalk, and other improvement will follow the current California Highway Design Manual and State Standard Plans as applicable. An 8’ wide protected bike lane will be provided on the now empty space on the west side of the proposed roundabout.
The Project involves one right of way (ROW) acquisition and one temporary construction easement (TCE). The potential ROW acquisition is approximately 0.25 acres and the potential TCE is approximately 0.3 acres.
