Document Description
DWR Staff with Contractor will perform geologic exploration work at Crafton Hills Reservoir. This plan involves excavating two test pits to aid in the design of the seepage collection structures. The primary goal for the test pits is to characterize foundation conditions and the extent of the seepage at depth. This work involves additional tasks: observation well CHE-27 will be decommissioned to prepare for the construction of a splash pad below the blowoff valve at the toe of the Dam and widening of the Hidden Oak Spring Trail to allow equipment to access during construction of an improved seepage collection system.

Reasons for Exemption
The State Water Project provides significant and critical services to many Californians. This project is exempt because it involves minor maintenance activities for data collection. This project will not result in impacts to special status species or habitat. The Categorical Exemption Class 1 will be used for CEQA compliance as this activity will be implemented without any environmental impacts.
