Document Description
The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to partially replace and seismically retrofit the northbound U.S. 101 Eel River Bridge from post miles 53.7 - 54.2 near Rio Dell, Humboldt County, California. This bridge was identified in the Structure Replacement and Improvement Needs Report as a seismically vulnerable bridge. The project would replace Spans 1 through 4 of the northbound Eel River Bridge with a cast-in-place prestressed box girder bridge. The remaining Spans 5 through 8 would be seismically retrofitted. Additional work would include constructing a retaining wall to realign the northbound bridge approach. The State Lands Commission action is an approval of a 20-year General Lease – Right-of-Way Use through June 02, 2045.
