Document Description
The Project will repair scour on the leading edges of Piers 8 and 9 due to restricted flows from the surrounding mining operation. The eroded area, around and between Pier 8 and 9, is approximately 40 feet wide, up to 5 feet deep, and 27 feet long; depth varies according to silt deposition from winter storms. However, silt is not adequately stable to maintain bridge stability. Excavation and placement of the shot rock (rock slope protection (RSP) will be needed in the scour hole and around the upstream edges of Piers 7, 8 and 9. The Project will also rehabilitate the bridge deck by cold planning and removing 1.5 inches of polymer concrete of the bridge deck in both directions. Impacts to California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense, CTS) habitat include 0 acres of permanent impacts and 1.009 acres of temporary impacts to grassland, burrow refugia, and dispersal habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of the CTS, designated as a threatened species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
