The Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is providing funding to Butte County Fire Safe Council to implement forest and watershed restoration activities on up to 52.5 acres of State Responsibility Area (SRA) lands located in the vicinity of the Town of Paradise, Butte County, that establish connections between previously conducted fuels reduction and forest health projects resulting in WUI-wide forest restoration. The Town of Paradise has prepared an Initial Study-Mitigated Negative Declaration for the Paradise Fuels Reduction Project. Treatment activities are consistent with those evaluated in the Paradise Fuels Reduction IS-MND and include manual thinning, manual piling, and pile burning. These treatments are intended to promote forest and watershed health, reduce fuel load, and demonstrate the efficacy of climate beneficial prescriptions.
