Document Description
The purpose of the Project is to construct a steel casing tangent wall and realign a portion of San Gregorio Creek to prevent erosion and protect infrastructure along the eastern creek bank at Bridge #35. The existing concrete pile cap on the secant wall will be removed, and the eastern bank will be excavated to install a new 110-foot-long steel casing tangent wall. The area behind the wall will be backfilled with cellular concrete and the roadway repaved. Following wall installation, the creek will be realigned westward, and a hybrid bioengineered bank—featuring soil-wrapped benches, rock riprap, rootwads, and a rock deflector—will be constructed to stabilize the channel and improve habitat. A temporary creek diversion system will be installed during construction. The Project will result in impacts to 0.238 acres of Central California Coast Coho Salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch) habitat including temporary impacts to 0.126 acres; the Project will permanently remove 0.112 acres of Central California Coast Coho Salmon habitat. The project is expected to result in incidental take of Central California Coast Coho Salmon, which is designated as an endangered species under CESA. The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
