California State Parks intends to install a steel gate on the Tuolumne County side of the Walter W. Smith Memorial Parkway at Calaveras Big Trees State Park as a public safety precaution so during a prescribed burn or in case of emergency, park managers can restrict access to the entirety of the southern portions of the park.
