Document Description
The Sierra Nevada Conservancy (SNC) would provide funding to the South Yuba River Citizens League for the Van Norden Meadow Recreation Project (Project). Van Norden Meadow is a 485-acre meadow on Tahoe National Forest land. The Project would build and improve formalized trail alignments to manage ongoing recreational use to protect sensitive meadow habitat. Grant funding would be used to develop a multi-use 5.5-mile loop trail, with interpretive signage, boardwalks and viewing platforms, and two new trailheads; as well as a connector trail that connects the loop trail to the adjacent trail network. Nevada County evaluated the Project in an Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration, which was certified on May 11, 2022. The SNC has reviewed the Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration and has independently determined that the Project would not result in significant adverse environmental impacts. All work will be performed in compliance with Nevada County’s Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration.
