Document Description
UC San Francisco (UCSF) is constructing an approximately 875,000-gross-square-foot (gsf) hospital, referred to as the Helen Diller Hospital (HDH) (formerly the New Hospital at Parnassus Heights, or NHPH), and will renovate approximately 114,000 gsf of existing space in the adjacent Moffitt and Long Hospitals and seismically upgrade Moffitt Hospital. This project is critical to address the seismic improvement need for acute inpatient care and outdated clinical facilities that lack the capacity to accommodate the growing need for tertiary and quaternary care, as well as for the overall aging patient population. Construction on the HDH project commenced in April 2024. Since HDH construction began in 2024, UCSF has implemented and adhered to Mitigation Measure NOI-1b (MM NOI-1b). However, during planning for the next two phases of construction, the Structural Steel phase and Above-Ground Structural Concrete phase, it has come to light that the MM NOI-1b construction hours are infeasible for these two phases of work. The proposed action is to amend the construction hours identified in MM NOI-1b for these two phases of construction, after determining the modification will result in no new or increased significant impacts as compared to the NHPH EIR.
