Document Description
The Project consists of Major Amendment No. 1 to the ITP. Major Amendment No. 1 includes a revised layout and acreage of walking trails; a revised layout and length of concrete rail fence; a revised footprint and acreage of the gravel access road; modifications to the foundation designs for three footbridges (Bridges A, B, and C); addition of two new High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) culvert crossings beneath the walking trail and a third HDPE culvert crossing with riprap under the walking trail in place of a footbridge; installation of a concrete grade control structure instead of a concrete apron at the outlet of the treatment wetland on Hospital Creek beneath Bridge A; installation of a buried rock cut-off wall at the inlet to the seasonal wetland beneath Bridge B; revised restoration areas; and adding the City of Salinas as a Permittee to the ITP.
Major Amendment No. 1 will result in an approximately 0.24-acre increase in permanent impacts to California tiger salamander (Ambystoma californiense; CTS) dispersal habitat within the Project footprint, and an approximately 1.71-acre decrease in temporary impacts to CTS dispersal habitat as compared to the original ITP. The overall Project footprint is now 71.67 acres. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of CTS, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act (CESA). The ITP referenced above as issued by CDFW authorizes incidental take of species listed under CESA that may occur as a result of Project implementation.
