Document Description
The Project objective is to restore approximately 114 acres of mountain meadow habitat in the Sacramento Headwaters watershed. Project activities include removal of conifers encroaching in the meadow footprint and installation of low-tech process-based structures designed to reconnect channels and floodplains to help increase the potential for groundwater storage. Typical structures will consist of tree dams, postless beaver dam analogs, and one rock dams. No materials will be permanently anchored to the streambed, and impacts to the stream bank will likely be less than 3 linear feet for each structure, if any. Up to 100 structures per mile are proposed on up to 11 miles of stream channel over the life of the project.
