Document Description
This Project proposes to benefit native fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitat. The Project is expected to increase and improve aquatic habitat for native fish and wildlife, including coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch), Chinook salmon (O. tshawytscha), steelhead trout (O. mykiss), longfin smelt (Spirinchus thaleichthys), and tidewater goby (Eucyclogobius newberryi). This will be achieved by removing or breaching levees and an abandoned railroad grade, removing tide gates or replacing them with fish friendly tide gates; restoring tidal marshes, sloughs and creek channels and their connectivity to mainstem channels; creating backwater features for seasonal waterfowl, amphibian, and winter salmonid rearing habitat; placement of large wood structures in fluvial and tidal habitats; expanding native plant communities including tidal marsh, riparian, and coastal scrub habitats; excluding cattle from waterways and riparian areas adjacent to pastures; and managing invasive vegetation. CDFW has determined that the Project is a Qualifying Restoration Project pursuant to section 1671(d)(1) of the Fish and Game Code, and the Project is expected to result in a substantial, cumulative benefit to native fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitat, or any combination thereof. This notice is to advise that CDFW issued the above-described RMP and has made the following determinations regarding the project pursuant to California Code of Regulations section 15096, subdivision (i):
