Document Description
The project will enhance fish habitat and provide suitable depths and velocities for juvenile salmonid rearing habitat by restoring and maintaining a backwater channel connection with the Sacramento River and modifying the side channel inlet to minimize sedimentation and maintain flows. This will occur over a 750-stretch at the lower end of the side channel and include grading the side channel to facilitate flows that align with the river’s flow direction to promote sediment movement in the channel. The Project will also include placing shrubs and woody material through the project area to provide cover for salmonids. Excavation and reconnection of the floodplain area will temporarily impact the existing area, resulting in reconnecting the floodplain area to provide better juvenile rearing and floodplain habitat.
