Document Description
The Project is designed to reconnect a backchannel to the Sacramento River and restore and enhance native fish habitat and natural floodplain processes to the area. The Project consists of reconnecting approximately 2,500 linear feet of a historically active but disconnected backchannel. The Project will restore seasonal floodplain connectivity, improve juvenile salmonid rearing habitat, eliminate fish stranding hazards created by artificial barriers, and restore natural geomorphic and hydrologic processes within the Sacramento River floodplain. The Project will improve ecological function, increase habitat complexity and diversity, restore natural river processes, and support the recovery of native fish and wildlife species within the Sacramento River ecosystem. The Project intends to restore and enhance 1.65 acres of terrestrial and aquatic habitat.
