Document Description
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is providing funding to help implement vegetation treatments on State Responsibility Area (SRA) Lands in the North Coastal San Luis Obispo County. The Upper Salina-Las Tablas Resource Conservation District has prepared a Project Specific Analysis (PSA) and Addendum for the North Coastal San Luis Obispo County area covered by the California Vegetation Treatment Project (CalVTP) Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on July 8, 2025, which entails implementation of vegetation treatments on up to 88,151 acres; CAL FIRE is providing funding to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Safe Council, to implement treatments on up to 1,409 acres. The proposed treatment types are fuel break and ecological restoration. The proposed treatment
activities consist of mechanical treatments, manual treatments, prescribed burning, herbicide application, and prescribed herbivory. Consistent with applicable Coastal Commission requirements, no ecological restoration or fuel break treatments
will occur within chaparral or coastal sage scrub in the project area. Ongoing maintenance of initial treatments would involve the same vegetation types and activities used in the initial treatment, as funding other approvals allow. Treatment
types and activities included in the proposed projects are consistent with those evaluated in the CalVTP.
