Document Description
The project includes amending the 2040 General Plan by making minor text changes to fix typographical errors and to make clarifications to Employment Mixed-Use (EMU) designation in the Land Use and Placemaking Element. General Plan Designation descriptions indicate that they allow for a range of activities, and each designation includes a companion list of types of allowable uses. The current description of the EMU designation already states that "this designation provides for a range of light industrial and high technology uses." The modified text will further clarify that the types of allowable uses include light industrial uses that do not generate substantial noise or noxious odors.

Regionally, Sacramento is in the center of California's Central Valley, roughly halfway between San Francisco to the west and Lake Tahoe to the east. The General Plan planning area covers a total area of approximately 197 square miles of incorporated and unincorporated land, encompassing land within the City limits, the Sphere of Influence, and five special study areas.
