Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed
Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification Number COL-56051-R2, pursuant to
section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Butte Sink Mitigation, LLC.
The Butte Sink Mitigation Bank Restoration Project (Project) will restore approximately 191.41
acres of farmed rice land into floodplain riparian habitat for the benefit of Sacramento River
winter-run and Central Valley spring-run Chinook salmonids (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) as
well as California Central Valley steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) and preserve existing
riparian and shaded riverine aquatic habitat. Project activities include: grading of floodplain and
breaching farm berms; construction of rolling dips, return flow channels, and Butte Creek side
channels; re-routing of the Highline Canal; installation of debris racks; and planting and seeding
to create native riparian habitat.
