Document Description
The proposed La Jolla Medical Center Outpatient Pavilion Project is the next implementing project of the UC San Diego 2018 La Jolla Campus Long Range Development Plan, as amended in 2025. The proposed project would construct an approximately 180,000-square-foot outpatient pavilion building in the UC San Diego Health La Jolla Medical Campus, supporting outpatient healthcare services. The site is currently developed with a surface parking lot and is located north of the Shiley Eye Institute and has a land use designation of Academic Healthcare. The university has determined that the proposed project would not result in any new significant effects on the environment or a substantial increase in the severity of previously identified effects addressed by the LRDP EIR and SEIR, no substantial changes have occurred with respect to the circumstances under which the Project will be undertaken which will require major revisions of the previous EIRs due to the involvement of new significant environmental effects or a substantial increase in the severity of previously identified significant effects, and no new information of substantial importance to the Project has been identified as defined by CEQA Guidelines Section 15162(a)(3). Minor technical additions were necessary such as new project design details, and in accordance with §15164 of the State CEQA Guidelines, an Addendum to the LRDP SEIR has been prepared. Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines § 15164, an addendum does not require circulation for public review. This document will be considered for approval by The Regents of the University of California during their September 14–16, 2026 meeting. A Notice of Determination will be filed following the meeting.
