Document Description
A pilot program allowing organized youth mountain bike use on select trails within Mt. Diablo State Park to evaluate safety, user conflicts, and environmental impacts. Use will occur between December and May, consistent with the organized youth riding season. Ground disturbance will be minimal, limited to minor tread work (less than 100’) using hand tools, light brushing of vegetation along the trail (less than 500’), and installation of small informational signs at up to 10 trailhead locations (small diameter, no excavation). Work will be done by mountain bike clubs and supervised by park staff. Use will be restricted to designated days and times and confined to approved trails, including one-way segments where applicable, with participation limited to supervised youth groups and certified coaches. Project level review has been completed and staff has determined that the project is covered under the Mount Diablo State Park Road and Trail Management Plan.
