Document Description
The project is an amendment to an existing use permit and reclamation plan for the Aspen VIII and IX Project (PLNP2014-00201) to expand mining of aggregate material (sand and gravel) to two distinct expansion areas, that total 245.6 acres of unmined areas. The Aspen VIII Expansion area would encompass 63.26 acres located adjacent to the northwest corner of Aspen VIII. The Aspen IX Expansion area would encompass 182.38 acres south of the existing Aspen IX mining area. As a part of the expansion, Teichert is proposing to extend its existing electric conveyor belt system over Elder Creek to transport aggregate materials from Aspen IX Expansion area back to the Perkins processing facility. The expansion of mining to areas adjacent to Aspen VIII and IX would include amendments to the existing Mining Use Permit, Reclamation Plan, and Development Agreements for Aspen VIII and IX. The project would also include amendmHnts to several conditions of approval on the Use Permit that are necessary to incorporate the expanded mine areas.
