Santa Barbara Airport Master Plan

The Proposed Project has been developed to accommodate existing and forecast passenger demands at the Airport, as identified in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The Proposed Project consists of improvements to the John T. Rickard Airline Terminal (Terminal) that would include an additional 16,500 square feet (sf) (approximately 310 sf larger than presented in the FPEIR) to the footprint of the Terminal and the redevelopment of approximately 20,400 square yards (sy) of Terminal and overflow apron (approximately 11,200 sy smaller than presented in the FPEIR). The airside pavement would not be expanded beyond existing limits. Additionally, compared to what was presented in the FPEIR, the Proposed Project would result in one fewer passenger loading bridge and a new access roadway instead of the realignment of the Terminal loop road. The adjustment to surface parking would result in the demolition of Building 122, which was not specifically addressed in the FPEIR, but would have been necessary for the expansion of the short-term parking lot and the extension of the Terminal loop road that were analyzed in the FPEIR. A portion of Building 122 is used as a breakroom for Airport employees, and the rest is leasable space. Following demolition, the breakroom would be accommodated within the redeveloped Terminal area.
