The Project will replace an aging and historic single lane bridge structure (bridge number 36C-0085) carrying San Lorenzo Way over the San Lorenzo River. In addition to replacing the bridge, the proposed Project includes modifications to the bridge approaches to correct the steep grade and improvements at the SR 9/San Lorenzo Way intersection to facilitate merging on and off the highway. The Project also includes using an existing private gravel road as a temporary access road to land uses on the east side of the bridge during construction. All work for the bridge replacement will be outside the ordinary high-water marks of the San Lorenzo River. Project construction activities will be isolated to the upper banks above the San Lorenzo River channel.
