The Del Norte Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCo) has received an application to form a recreation and park district pursuant to Recreation and Park District Law (Public Resources Code 5780 et seq.). The district boundary would be coterminous with the County boundary. The purpose of the district is to increase revenues to maintain and operate the Del Norte County Fairgrounds. District formation would be contingent on voter approval of a special sales tax. This independent district would be governed by a five member board of directors elected at large by the voters of the District. The uses, operations, and management of the Fairgrounds facilities would remain similar to current conditions.
