Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has amended Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS-SFO-14833-R3, pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, to the project Applicant, City of Daly City. The project amendment includes incorporating approximately 10 acres of riparian and wetland habitat restoration at 14 sites at Lake Merced. This additional habitat restoration is necessary to satisfy the California Coastal Commission’s requirement for compensatory mitigation for the project’s anticipated operational impacts on environmentally sensitive habitat areas and wetlands. The project, as described in the original Agreement, would raise the lake water surface elevation from approximately 6.0 feet City Datum to 8.5 feet, and would cause inundation and loss or type change of wetlands and riparian areas around Lake Merced. This amendment would incorporate additional arroyo willow riparian restoration acreage into the project.
