The applicant is proposing the replacement of above ground utility lines with underground utilities from the Riviera West Subdivision to the County-owned communication tower site on Buckingham Peak of Mt. Konocti. The proposed route would traverse property owned by the County, the Bureau of Land Management and the Riviera West Mutual Water Company. The project proposes the installation of an underground power line and fiber optic cable in a two foot wide by three foot deep trench would follow the existing overhead utility line that stretches along the same route. The overhead lines would be removed upon completion of the trenching project. A 20 foot wide area along the entire trench route will be cleared of all vegetation before construction begins to reduce the risk of fire. Excess soil will be spread across the disturbed area. Construction staging areas are proposed at the bottom of the mountain on Broadview Ct. as well as at the top of Buckingham Peak.
