Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-ORA-36772-R5), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, the project Applicant, County of Orange. The Project is limited to the maintenance of 5 ocean outlets. As-needed maintenance generally consists of removal of sand/sediment within the outlets and placement of the removed sand/sediment on nearby beaches. Loose boulders and rock riprap from any rock jetties will be retrieved and replaced. The outlets will be inspected twice a year in the fall and spring, with the Talbert Channel outlet and Santa Ana River outlet additionally inspected in the summer, winter, and after every major storm event. Additional maintenance may be required within 7 days of any observed blockages at each of the sites to ensure tidal flow throughout the outlets. Heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, and articulating dump trucks will be utilized for work. Access would occur from the public beaches surrounding each outlet.
