Document Description
The Apple Campus 2 Project Final Environmental Impact Report (Final EIR) was certified by the City of Cupertino on October 15, 2013. The approved Apple Campus 2 (now called Apple Park) project included demolition of all existing structures within the project site and the construction of 3,420,000 square feet of office, research, and development uses; 245,000 square feet of auditorium, fitness center, and valet parking reception uses; 92,000 square feet of utility plants; and parking and ancillary buildings. The impacts associated with the modified project were analyzed in the Final EIR. Modifications to the Apple Park campus were proposed and included in the Site Plans and Project Application submitted to the City of Cupertino (City) by Apple Inc. (project sponsor) in July 2025 and were analyzed in the Tenth Addendum to the Final EIR. The minor changes requested in the Application involve: (1) the installation of three new electric generators and six new battery storage units, along with associated infrastructure improvements, within and adjacent to the existing utility yard footprint; (2) the removal of nine parking spaces within the Apple South Parking Structure to accommodate conduit routing, with construction of nine replacement stalls northwest of the Central Utility Plant to maintain the current parking supply; and (3) the construction of a 13-foot retaining wall around the proposed Battery Yard to accommodate site grading and provide noise attenuation. The modified project would not expand the campus boundary, result in ground disturbance outside of the previously evaluated area, or increase the number of employees or parking spaces on campus. All trees along the southern boundary of the project site would be protected in place. Construction would occur over approximately 12 months and include site preparation, grading, utility yard expansion, equipment installation, and commissioning. Approximately 3,000 cubic yards of cut material would be hauled off site, and all construction staging would occur within the Apple Park campus with no anticipated street closures.
