                Document Description
            
            Remove and trim vegetation within 50 to 100 feet with in State Park boundary along Lake Natoma at the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area to create defensible space. Work will cut vegetation, either with hand tools or with power equipment. Ground disturbance will be minimized. Cut vegetation could be chipped and broadcast, scattered or piled for burning at a later date. Invasive exotic plant species plants will be removed as part of this project. This project will be performed under the following:
"	The State Parks "Guidelines for the Protection of Structures from Wild land Fire - March 2009 (Guidelines) will be used as a guiding document and prescription for this vegetation modification.
"	Nesting bird surveys will be conducted prior to the start of work by a qualified wildlife biologist. If bird nest are found during surveys - the area will be flagged and avoided.
"	Elderberry shrubs within the project area will be identified and flagged by District Environmental Scientist and reviewed with the work crew and crew leaders. No work will occur within 20 feet of elderberry shrubs.
"	No work will be conducted within the riparian zone of the stream which may run through the project area.
"	Proper pruning methods will be utilized to ensure health of limbed trees.
"	Any ground disturbance associated with burn piles will be monitored at the discretion of the State Park Archaeologist.
