Document Description
The project would serve the cities of Lake Elsinore, Canyon Lake, Perris, Menifee, Murrieta, Hot Springs, Temecula, and Wildomar as well as surrounding unincorporated areas of Riverside County. The project would include: • Construction of a new 1,120 megavolt ampere 500/115-kilovolt (kV) substation (Alberhill Substation). • Construction of two new 500-kV transmission lines to connect the Alberhill substation to the existing Serrano–Valley 500-kV transmission line. • Converting approximately 10.6 miles of existing single-circuit 115-kV subtransmission lines to double-circuit with structure replacement primarily in the existing right-of-way (ROW). • Construction of about 3 miles of single-circuit 115-kV subtransmission line with distribution line underbuilt on the subtransmission line structures and remove about 3 miles of electrical distribution lines within the existing ROW. • Installing a second 115-kV circuit on approximately 6.2 miles of existing 115-kV subtransmission lines. • Installing approximately 550 feet of new 115-kV underground subtransmission circuit within new duct banks and approximately 4,000 feet of new 115-kV subtransmission circuit within existing duct banks. • Installing fiber optic lines overhead (approximately 9 miles) on sections of the new or modified subtransmission lines and underground (approximately 1 mile) in proximity to the Alberhill Substation and several existing 115/12-kV substations. • Installing a 120-foot microwave antenna tower at the Alberhill Substation site. Installing microwave telecommunications dish antennas at the Alberhill Substation, the existing Santiago Peak communications site, and Serrano Substation. Installing telecommunications equipment at other substations. • Installing a new position inside Newcomb Substation to accommodate the new Newcomb-Skylark 115-kV line, and modifying an existing position at Valley Substation to isolate the existing Valley-Newcomb 115-kV line, which will be taken out of service as part of the project. • Transferring five of the 14 Valley South 115-kV System substations (Ivyglen, Fogarty, Elsinore, Skylark, and Newcomb) to the 115-kV Alberhill System.
