Document Description
On June 16, 2026, the Board adopted plans and specifications for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus Augustus F. Hawkins Building Demolition Project, instructed the Executive Officer of the Board to advertise for bids, and authorized the Director of Public Works to award and execute a construction contract to the apparent lowest responsive and responsible bidder. The proposed Project is to demolish the existing, vacant August F. Hawkins Building and construct site improvements. The scope of work includes disconnection, capping, and protection of existing utilities, demolition and removal of the building structure, foundation, slabs, and associated hardscape, rough grading and backfill of the cleared area, installation of erosion and sediment control, fencing and other site safety measures. Work is in accordance with the Environmental Impact Report (EIR) Addendum certified by the Board of Supervisors on December 11, 2018 for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Campus Behavioral Health Center (Multi-Service Ambulatory Care Center Renovation and Hawkins Building Demolition). The original EIR was certified on October 11, 2011.
