Water Treatment Plant/Recreational Facilities, High Intensity/Northwest El Dorado Hills Specific Plan
Document Description
The Project would modernize and expand the existing El Dorado Hills Water Treatment Plant (EDHWTP) to replace aging infrastructure, enhance treatment reliability and resilience, address seasonal source-water challenges from Folsom Lake, and ensure the facility can continue meeting current and future drinking water regulations and demands through upgraded treatment processes and increased operational capacity. The Project would increase authorized capacity from 19.5 million gallons per day (mgd) to 24 mgd, with infrastructure to accommodate a future buildout capacity of up to 31.5 mgd. The Project involves removal of outdated infrastructure and installation of new water treatment facilities, piping, electrical systems, and other associated infrastructure. Project construction will require the use of heavy machinery including dump trucks, cranes, backhoes, concrete trucks, pump trucks, welding equipment, loaders, generators, forklifts, and air compressors. Construction will be phased to allow uninterrupted operation of the existing EDHWTP. Construction would occur intermittently over a five-year period, with the exact commencement date depending upon the availability of grants or other financing.
