The Flood Risk Management Project is located at several distinct locations where its components would be constructed, including Magpie Creek, and approximately 12 miles of the north and south banks of the American River immediately upstream from the confluence with the Sacramento River and approximately 14 miles of levees along the east bank of the Sacramento River downstream from the American River to just below the town of Freeport the American River, and the Sacramento River, in Sacramento County.
