Document Description
The Flood Risk Management Project consists of design refinements to the authorized 2016 ARCF Project, including engineering design modifications, footprint expansions, and compensatory habitat mitigation approaches. The design refinements include actions within eight major project components: Magpie Creek Project; American River Erosion Contracts 3B North, 3B South, 4A, and 4B; Sacramento River Erosion Contract 3; American River Mitigation Site; Sacramento River Mitigation Site, and installation of a Piezometer Network. The purpose of the Flood Risk Management Project is to address slope stability and erosion concerns along the levees of the American and Sacramento Rivers to reduce the overall flood risk.

The Flood Risk Management Project is located at several distinct locations where its components would be constructed, including Magpie Creek, and approximately 12 miles of the north and south banks of the American River immediately upstream from the confluence with the Sacramento River and approximately 14 miles of levees along the east bank of the Sacramento River downstream from the American River to just below the town of Freeport, in Sacramento County.
