Document Description
On September 23, 2008, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors adopted Sonoma County General Plan 2020 (“General Plan 2020”), a comprehensive update of the Sonoma County General Plan, and certified the EIR for the Sonoma County General Plan 2020 project (the “General Plan 2020 EIR”).
On August 12, 2025, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors amended General Plan 2020 to repeal the existing Public Safety Element and adopt the General Plan Safety Element Update, for compliance with state law requirements for safety elements. Also on August 12, 2025, the Board of Supervisors and adopted an Addendum to the General Plan 2020 EIR for the Safety Element Update, and determined that no additional environmental review is required. The Safety Element Update is part of the General Plan 2020 project, and the previously certified General Plan 2020 EIR was the basis for the County’s approval of the Safety Element Update. Mitigation measures were previously adopted and incorporated into the General Plan. No new mitigation measures were adopted as part of the approval of the Safety Element Update. Findings and a statement of overriding considerations were previously adopted for the General Plan 2020 project.
