            In June 2002, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requested the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center (MCAGCC), Twentynine Plams Eplosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Team to destroy approximately 17,000 pounds of hazardous explosives waste inventory from the Denova Environmental, Inc. site located in Rialto, California.  The waste was being cleaned up as a part of the emergency response action conducted by USEPA to clean up hazardous waste at teh Denova Facility.  The hazardous explosives waste, consisting of bulk explosives and explosive items including detonating cord and shape charges, was packed and loaded into military 5-ton trucks by EOD Personnel at the Denova facility on Friday, July 19, 2002.  On that date, the Department of Toxic Substances Control issued an Emergency Hazardous waste Facility Permit to MCAGCC and US Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 authorizing the destruction of the hazardous explosives was utilizing Open Burn/Open Detonation.
