                Document Description

Issuance of a variance to San Luis Obispo County from hazardous waste permit and manifest requirements of Health and Safety Code sections 25201 and 25160. The variance authorizes San Luis Obispo County to collect hazardous waste from qualified CESQG sites, oil from the marine bilge water collections sites, and non-Resource Conservation and Recovery Act(RCRA) abandoned and emergency response wastes and transport the wastes to an authorized Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility (HHWCF). The variance allows San Luis Obispo County to contact with a registered hazardous waste transporter to collect and transport the waste. The variance also initial, one time collection of hazardous waste from a CESQG, not to exceed 1,000 kilograms (approximately 270 gallons). The routine removal of wastes from the generator sites prevents accumulation of hazardous waste and limits the potential for any risk of upset or accident. The collections provide a safe means to collect and transport the wastes and also an appropriate way for CESQGs to dispose of hazardous waste.
